Robust DC-DC charger ensures optimal condition of your user battery
Traditionally, a user battery is connected to the starter battery through a charging relay. The starter battery is placed near the alternator and receives the largest share of the charging current, typically the user battery is placed further away. Long cables then cause voltage drop, leading to longer charging times. This, in turn, causes equipment failure as well as shorter battery life.
Modern, energy-efficient engines are equipped with smart alternators built to Euro 5 or Euro 6 emission standards. Instead of providing constant voltage, smart alternators use variable voltage; after a short charging period, the voltage is reduced and the charging process stops. In the process, the recovery of braking energy leads to voltage spikes. Traditionally coupled user batteries thereby receive hardly any charge and are damaged by the voltage spikes.
To solve this problem, Mastervolt introduces the Mac Plus DC-DC chargers in 12 V and 24 V versions. The Mac Plus monitors the user battery and compensates for voltage loss. The proven 3-stage charging method ensures a fast and safe charging process. In addition, the Mac Plus protects your user battery and sensitive equipment by stabilizing the charging voltage.
